The Government of India is exploring all possible measures to evacuate Indians stuck in Ukraine.
“To assist in the evacuation of Indian nationals from Ukraine, the MEA teams are being sent to the land borders with Ukraine in Hungary, Poland, Slovak Republic and Romania,” a press release issued by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs said.
According to the release, Hungary team comprising MEA officials is on its way to Zahony border post opposite Uzhhorod in Zakarpattia Oblast of Ukraine; Poland team on its way to Krakowiec land border with Ukraine; Slovak Republic team on its way to Vysne Nemecke land border with Ukraine, and Romania team on its way to Suceava land border with Ukraine.
The MEA has also issued contact details of the land border teams.

The MEA has called upon Indian nationals in Ukraine near the above border points to contact the above teams in case they wish to depart from Ukraine.
Meanwhile, an MEA control room is operational on a 24×7 basis to assist students and other Indian nationals.
However, an Air India flight that flew from Delhi to bring back Indians had to turn back because Ukrainian authorities had shut the Boryspil Airport to civilian flights after Russian forces attacked the country.
Meanwhile, in a third advisory issued to all Indian nationals/ students in Ukraine the Embassy of India in Ukraine called for restraint and asked them to relocate to safe place.
“Dear Indian Citizens in Ukraine, as you are aware, Ukraine is under martial law, which has made movement difficult. For those students who are stranded without a place of stay in Kyiv, Mission is in touch with establishments to put them up. We are aware that certain places are hearing air sirens/bomb warnings. In case you are faced with such a situation, google maps has a list of nearby bomb shelters, many of which are located in underground metros,” the latest advisory from the Embassy of in Kyiv said.

A report in Hindustan Times said, “In India the Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has caused anxiety among family members of Indian citizens living or studying in the crisis-hit European country. With Ukraine closing its airspace because of Russia’s attacks, they have been left to worry and pray about the safety of their loved ones.”
“My brother studies at Kharkiv University with some of his friends. I am really concerned about his well-being. I last spoke to my brother ten minutes ago, he explained that the situation there is tensed,” the HT report cited Indian resident Pooja’s quote provided by news agency ANI.
