Rajasthan’s tourism department recently gave industry status to the hospitality sector. With that move, the hospitality sector will pay tariffs and levies as per industry, not as commercial entities. These hospitality units will be eligible to get an entitled certificate which will enable them to get the industry benefits.
In the order, the department has named the units which will be eligible for the benefits. The list includes hotels, motels, heritage properties, budget hotels, restaurants, cafeteria, resorts of various kinds, camping site, amusement park, animal safari park, camping sites, amusement parks, animal safari parks, convention centres, museums, ropeways, tourist luxury coaches, caravans, and cruise tourism among others.

Ranvijay Singh, Joint Secretary, Hotel and Restaurant Association of Rajasthan, was quoted by ETTravelWorld saying, “It is a historic decision. In fact, the tourism industry deserved this kind of decision after what it has gone through during the pandemic. You cannot imagine Rajasthan without tourism. So the government needs a pat on the back for this move.”
The list of beneficiaries also include all the proposed units under the rural tourism scheme, companies taking benefit of Rajasthan Industrial promotion scheme and Mukhyamantri Laghu Udhyog Protsahan Yojana, hotels and motels of Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation, and others.
