Bank Muscat extends strong support to Sayyid Abbas Golf Tournament

The tournament, which is held annually in memory of the club’s former chairman, the late His Highness Sayyid Abbas Bin Faisal, is one of Oman’s oldest and most well-known golfing events.

MUSCAT: In line with its commitment to promoting sports and community-centric activities, Bank Muscat extended strong support to the prestigious Sayyid Abbas Golf Tournament, which was recently held at the Ghala Golf Club under the patronage of His Highness Sayyid Abbas Bin Mohammed Bin Abbas Al Said. 

The tournament, which is held annually in memory of the club’s former chairman, the late His Highness Sayyid Abbas Bin Faisal, is one of Oman’s oldest and most well-known golfing events. It saw the participation of around 120 golfers this year, including some of the top golfers in the Sultanate. 

Speaking on the occasion, Talal Abdul Hameed Al Zadjali, Deputy General Manager – Operations, Bank Muscat, said: “It is a great honour and privilege to be continuously associated with the Sayyid Abbas Golf Tournament over the last many years and we are delighted with the excellent turnout for the event this year”. 

“Bank Muscat is always happy to play a keen role in supporting sporting talent in the Sultanate, and will continue to look for opportunities like these where it can play an active role in encouraging Omani talent and in supporting our local communities. Bank Muscat places great emphasis on supporting initiatives aimed at contributing to the Sultanate’s progress and development across different spheres, particularly sports activities for the youth. As part of this strategy, Bank Muscat supports many sports activities and youth championships across the country. Bank Muscat has previously extended strong support to different sports activities in the country as part of its social responsibility initiatives.

The bank’s Green Sports programme is one of the leading CSR programs in Oman, which provides support to local sports teams as part of the bank’s efforts to develop sports infrastructure in Omani sports and provide green spaces throughout the Sultanate of Oman. The facilities developed as part of the programme are often used as a venue for other social activities by local communities, leading to stronger social bonding and positive behaviour among young people as well as the development of talented Omani youth. 

Bank Muscat’s Green Sports programme has so far benefitted 163 teams with over 50,000 team members across the Sultanate of Oman. Earlier in 2022, the bank was able to extend strong support to the inaugural School Beach Games Championship held in Salalah as part of its strong role in Public-
