To ensure effective resolution of the complaints and issues related to the Punjabi diaspora, the government of Punjab is readying a new policy for the Punjabi Non-Resident Indians (NRIs). The policy will be released by February-end, reported ToI.
Punjab NRIs Affairs Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal shared this information after a meeting with DGP Gaurav Yadav, Principal Secretary, NRI affairs, JM Balamurugan and other government officers recently.
During these meetings held at Jalandhar, Mohali, Ludhiana, Moga and Amritsar, the minister said, more than 40% complaints — around 250 of the total 606 complaints — were addressed
The minister said the state government’s initiative to hold ‘NRI Milnis’ (NRI meetings) got a massive response.

The remaining complaints were also being addressed, the minister said and pointed out that they were being heard in various courts.
The minister said the process of setting up fast track courts had also been initiated for early resolution of cases, especially related to Indian migrants. These new special courts will be established at Amritsar, Moga, Ludhiana, Nawanshahr and Patiala.
