There was persistence of westerly winds over south Arabian Sea, increase in the depth of westerly winds up to the middle tropospheric levels and an increase in clouds over the areas covering the southeast Arabian Sea, Lakshadweep and Kerala coasts, IMD said.
“Conditions are becoming favourable for the monsoon’s onset over Kerala during next 48 hours and further advancement of the Southwest Monsoon into some more parts of the South Arabian Sea, entire Lakshadweep, Maldives and Comorin area, some more parts Southwest, Central & Northeast Bay of Bengal and some parts of Northeastern states during next 48 hours,” it said.
In Telangana, heat wave conditions were likely to continue for the next 4-5 days.
Statewide, the highest maximum temperature was recorded in Jayashankar Bhupalpally at 45.7 degrees, followed by Kumaram Bheem at 45.4 degrees and Bhadradri Kothagudem at 45.3 degrees Celsius. The city recorded the highest maximum temperature of 41.9 degree C in Hayathnagar on Wednesday, June 7..
Rains were experienced at isolated places in the districts of Kumaram Bheem, Mancherial, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Nalgonda, Rangareddy, Sangareddy, Vikarabad, Yadadri Bhuvangiri and nearby areas.
Telangana will continue to receive light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds and a yellow alert has been issued for more than 20 districts in TS.
The city will experience light to moderate rain or thundershowers over the next two days with westerly surface winds of 8-10 kmph, IMD said.
