Punjab CM to hold programs for NRIs

Meetings will take place in Hoshiarpur, Bathinda, Patiala, Jagraon, and Gurdaspur on December 15, 18, 19, 22, and December 29, respectively

 Aiming to address the issues and grievances of NRI Punjabis swiftly and efficaciously, the Punjab government, led by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Maan, will hold five ‘NRI Punjabian nal milni’ programs across the state. These meetings will take place in Hoshiarpur, Bathinda, Patiala, Jagraon, and Gurdaspur on December 15, 18, 19, 22, and December 29, respectively.

Speaking about the programs, NRI Affairs Minister S. Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal stated that the meeting on December 15 in Hoshiarpur will address the issues and complaints of NRI Punjabis from Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, SBS Nagar, Kapurthala. Similarly, a meeting program is scheduled for December 18 in Bathinda, covering Bathinda, Faridkot, Mansa, Fazilka, and Sri Muktsar Sahib. He said that on December 19, the issues of NRI Punjabis related to Patiala, Rupnagar, SAS Nagar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Sangrur and Malerkotla districts will be resolved at Patiala. On December 22, issues of NRIs of Ludhiana, Barnala, Ferozepur, and Moga will be addressed at Jagraon, while this issues of Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, and Pathankot districts NRIs will be covered on December 29 in Gurdaspur.

Dhaliwal said that the department had also organized five successful meetings in December 2022 last year during which 605 different complaints were lodged by the NRIs, which have been resolved.

He said that apart from this, NRIs police wing have been receiving abundance online complaints and all these have been solved in a time-bound manner at 15 NRI police stations, district and state level.

The Cabinet Minister said that PCS level officers have been appointed as nodal officers to resolve the grievances of NRI Punjabis in various districts. They work to resolve problems and complaints with the assistance of the district administration. He emphasized the department’s commitment to addressing migrant Punjabis’ issues and ensuring prompt coordination with Deputy Commissioners, SSPs, and concerned departments when specific cases arise.

Dhaliwal urged NRIs Punjabis to exercise their right to vote in the election of the President of NRI Sabha Punjab, emphasizing the importance of selecting a worthy representative.

On the occasion, Principal Secretary NRI Affairs Department Dilip Kumar, ADGP NRI Wing. Praveen Kumar Sinha, and senior officials associated with NRI Affairs Department and NRI Sabha Punjab were present.
