In a bid to bolster the well-being of Non-Resident Telugus (NRTs), encompassing migrant workers, employees, and students residing abroad, the Andhra Pradesh government is introducing a 50% premium subsidy on the Pravasandhra Bharosa Bima (PBB) insurance scheme. This pioneering initiative is designed to furnish financial security and support to NRTs and their families, as reported by Express News Service.

Venkat S Medapati, President of the Andhra Pradesh Non-Resident Telugu Society (APNRTS), elucidated that eligible individuals can enlist in the PBB scheme at subsidized rates from December 26, 2023, to January 15, 2024. During this stipulated period, NRTs employed overseas can register for a nominal fee of Rs 275, entailing a comprehensive coverage period of three years. Students are eligible for complimentary enrollment, securing coverage for one year.

CEO of APNRTS, P Hemalatha Rani, detailed that the PBB insurance scheme encompasses a financial aid of Rs 10 lakh in the event of accidental death or permanent disability. Moreover, it provides coverage for medical expenses, offering up to Rs 1 lakh for injuries or sickness, and maternity expenses up to Rs 50,000 for women. With the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The New India Assurance Company poised to expire on January 15, NRTs are encouraged to capitalize on the benefits of the PBB scheme, considering the possibility of a premium hike in the new MoU.

Interested individuals can initiate the enrollment process by contacting APNRTS at +91-863-2340678 or via WhatsApp at +91-8500027678. Alternatively, they can visit https://www.apnrts.ap.gov.in/index.php/home/insurance_new or send an email to insurance@apnrts.com and helpline@apnrts.com.
