The Urdu Wing of the Indian Social Club, Muscat, Oman, presented a captivating evening of ‘Dastangoi’, featuring the mesmerizing narrative performance of “Dastane Amir Khusro” by the renowned Syed Sahil Agha. This remarkable event, held on May 10th, 2024, marked a significant milestone as Dastangoi made its debut in Oman, showcasing the timeless tales of one of the most celebrated figures in Urdu literature, Amir Khusro.

The event, graced by the presence of Ambassador of India, Amit Narang, as chief guest, garnered attention for its cultural significance and artistic brilliance.

Ambassador Narang, in his address, underscored the importance of Dastangoi as an integral part of India’s cultural heritage, highlighting its profound impact on storytelling traditions.

Tufail Ahmad, Convener of the ISC Urdu Wing, extended a warm welcome to the audience, expressing pride in bringing Dastangoi to Oman for the first time. He emphasized the Urdu Wing’s commitment to preserving and promoting the art of Dastangoi, recognizing its cultural significance and historical relevance.

Adding musical enchantment to the evening, local singers Vineet Pandit and Neha Shah enriched the program with renditions of famous Ghazals and Geets by Amir Khusro, infusing the ambiance with melodies that echoed the poet’s timeless verses.

Waris Mohiuddin, as the anchor of the event, skillfully guided the audience through the enchanting journey of Dastangoi, while Gauhar Naqvi extended heartfelt gratitude in the vote of thanks, acknowledging the collective efforts that made the event a resounding success.
