The introduction of these BTech programs at IIT-D’s Abu Dhabi campus represents a significant step in fostering international academic collaboration and preparing students to tackle future challenges in energy and digitalization
The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT-D) is set to expand its global footprint with the introduction of its first-ever Bachelor of Technology (BTech) programs at its international campus in Abu Dhabi for the 2024-25 academic year. This new venture marks a significant collaboration between IIT-D and its Abu Dhabi counterpart, offering two specialized BTech degrees: Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and Energy Engineering.
The BTech in Computer Science and Engineering is designed to provide students with a robust foundation in theoretical and practical aspects of computing. With a strong emphasis on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning, the program aims to develop proficiency in abstraction, computational thinking, and problem-solving skills necessary for the modern digital world. Graduates will be well-equipped to influence various industries, including analytics, finance, cryptography, and information technology.
To further support students in the UAE, IIT-D has launched various outreach programs. The institute plans to introduce short courses and executive programs for industry professionals, enhancing the educational landscape and providing opportunities for continuous learning and skill development
Meanwhile, the BTech in Energy Engineering is tailored to address the pressing challenges in energy production and management. This program focuses on sustainability and offers a broad spectrum of engineering disciplines to cater to diverse interests. Students will be prepared to devise innovative solutions to meet the growing demands in the energy sector, emphasizing sustainable practices and efficient energy management.
Beyond these undergraduate programs, the Abu Dhabi campus of IIT-D provides a wide range of courses across multiple fields, including Energy and Sustainability, Artificial Intelligence, Healthcare, Mathematics and Computing, and other engineering, science, and humanities disciplines. These offerings reflect the institute’s commitment to providing comprehensive education and addressing critical global challenges.
In 2023, IIT-D, in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) and the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), highlighted the importance of these new educational initiatives. This partnership underscores a shared commitment to nurturing skilled talent in the UAE and supporting the region’s educational and professional development.
