This service provides a seamless payment experience for Indian visitors and expatriates in the UAE, enhancing their ease of transactions and financial convenience
Indian citizens visiting or residing in the UAE now have the convenience of making payments through the PhonePe app, thanks to its recent expansion in the country. This development is a result of a collaboration between PhonePe and Dubai-based Mashreq Bank.
Users can carry out transactions at Mashreq’s NEOPAY terminals, which are widespread across various retail stores, dining establishments, tourist spots, and leisure venues. The payments are debited in Indian rupees, with the currency exchange rate displayed at the terminal.
ACTIVATING PHONEPE FOR INTERNATIONAL USE
- Open the PhonePe app and tap on your profile picture.
- Select “UPI International” in the “Payment Settings” section.
- Tap “Activate” next to the bank account you wish to use for international UPI payments.
- Enter your UPI PIN to complete the activation process.
MAKING PAYMENTS WITH PHONEPE IN THE UAE
- At any NEOPAY terminal, scan the QR code using the PhonePe app.
- The account will be debited in Indian rupees.
STEPS FOR INDIAN EXPATS IN THE UAE
- Download the PhonePe app on their mobile devices.
- Link their existing NRE and NRO accounts to the app.
- Make payments through the app at NEOPAY terminals.
