In Chandigarh, a washerman’s family and their associates have been apprehended for illegally occupying a property belonging to an 82-year-old NRI woman. The accused allegedly forged documents to solidify their claim over the 12-marla property located in Sector 36.
Among those arrested are Lal Bihari, 53, his wife Radha Rani, 51, and their children Pooja, 24, Shiva, 22, and Suraj Kumar, 26. Also detained were Ranjit Kaur, 47, from Sector 40, and Ashok Kumar, 48, who is accused of aiding the illegal occupation by creating fraudulent documents. Police have obtained a two-day remand for Ashok Kumar, while the others have been placed in judicial custody.
