The Indian Embassy lauded the prompt actions of Omani security agencies in addressing the crisis and safeguarding civilians
Khalid Muslahi, Undersecretary of Oman’s Foreign Ministry, visited the Indian Embassy to offer condolences over the tragic death of an Indian national in a recent shooting incident in Muscat. India’s Ambassador to Oman, Amit Narang, expressed gratitude for Muslahi’s visit and commended the swift response and support from Omani authorities.
The incident occurred on July 15, when a shooting at a mosque in Muscat’s Wadi al-Kabir resulted in the deaths of six individuals and injuries to 28 others. Among those killed were four Pakistanis and a policeman, as confirmed by both Pakistani and Omani authorities.
The embassy remains committed to supporting the Indian community and ensuring the well-being of its members in Oman.
Omani police reported that the three gunmen responsible for the attack were killed, and no group has yet claimed responsibility.
In the wake of the shooting, the Indian Embassy in Muscat has been actively monitoring the welfare of the Indian community. The embassy issued a statement expressing condolences and confirmed efforts to repatriate the remains of the deceased Indian national.
Ambassador Narang spoke with the son of the deceased, Basha Jan Ali Hussain, and assured him of the embassy’s full support, including the repatriation process. Narang also communicated with the families of the injured Indian nationals and visited them at Khoula Hospital, offering continued support.
