Second edition of CMAI’s ‘Brands of India’ in Dubai to boost global market for Indian apparel

  • The first edition of “Brands of India” held in November 2023 in Dubai was a resounding success, attracting 2,800 overseas buyers from 63 countries

  • This year’s edition promises to build on that success, further solidifying India’s position in the global apparel market

The Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI) is set to host the second edition of the standalone trade show, “Brands of India,” from 12th to 14th November 2024 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, UAE. This event is a significant step toward elevating the global presence of Indian apparel manufacturers, offering a unique platform for showcasing their latest collections.

Supported by the Ministry of Textiles, the Government of India, the Embassy of India in UAE, Textile Merchants Group Dubai (Texmas), and Readymade Garments Merchants Group Dubai (RGM Group), the event is expected to draw considerable attention. Over 150 prominent Indian apparel brands, spanning categories such as Men’s, Women’s, and Kids’ wear in casual, ethnic, and western formal styles, will be presented. The show provides a valuable sourcing opportunity for retailers, wholesalers, agents, distributors, franchisees, importers, traders, e-commerce platforms, and buying houses, primarily targeting the MENA region but with a global reach.

Rajesh Masand, President of CMAI, emphasized the importance of this event, noting that it aims to assist Indian apparel manufacturers in taking their brands global. The initiative is designed to generate leads, secure partnerships, and drive sales, ultimately boosting the business and financial performance of the participants. The event is particularly appealing for the 1.34 crore Indian diaspora in the MENA region, providing them access to the latest fashion trends from India.

  • The recent roadshow in Mumbai saw the attendance of over 50 interested manufacturers from across India, with eight companies confirming their participation on the spot, bringing the total number of participants to 86 so far

  • Similar roadshows are planned in other manufacturing hubs like Surat, Jaipur, Noida, and Tirupur, ensuring widespread participation

A significant highlight of the upcoming edition is its inclusion under the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative by the Government of Uttar Pradesh. This inclusion offers a subsidy of up to 75% on stall charges, airfare, and freight costs for participants from Noida, Greater Noida, and Gautam Buddha Nagar, making it an attractive proposition for manufacturers looking to expand their exports.

In preparation for the event, CMAI has laid out an extensive marketing and promotional plan for the next three months. This plan includes personalized invitations to buyers, focused social media promotions targeting over 700,000 overseas followers across platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. Additionally, a robust publicity and PR campaign will be conducted through e-portals, trade magazines, and outdoor advertising at strategic locations around Dubai.

To further elevate the profile of the event, CMAI has scheduled a series of overseas roadshows and door-to-door visits in key GCC markets, including Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, and various cities in the UAE. New features such as a uni-directional floor plan, business networking sessions with select corporate buyers, one-on-one meetings based on sourcing needs, interpreter facilities for buying groups, and prominent space allocation for select agents, distributors, and buying houses are also set to be introduced.
