Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has called upon the Tamil diaspora in the United States to encourage more American companies to invest in Tamil Nadu. On September 1, during his visit to the US to attract investments, Stalin met with members of the Tamil community at a function in San Francisco, emphasizing the importance of economic ties between the US and Tamil Nadu.

Addressing the gathering, Stalin highlighted the growing presence of American companies in the state. “More than 300 American companies have established their operations in Tamil Nadu. Over the past three years, there has been a noticeable increase in American investments here. I have come to personally invite them to explore more opportunities,” Stalin stated. He urged the Indian Americans present to advocate for increased investment in Tamil Nadu by American businesses.

Stalin pointed out that many renowned American companies are already operating in Tamil Nadu, contributing to its status as India’s second-largest economy. He underscored the importance of the relationship between India and the United States, stating, “The India-America partnership is vital for global welfare. This bond goes beyond government ties; it is also a people-to-people connection. Tamil Nadu, in particular, holds a special appeal for American investors.”

Highlighting the achievements of the Indian community in the US, Stalin noted that many Tamilians occupy high-ranking positions in American companies and that Indian-origin scientists are making significant contributions. He mentioned that bilateral trade between India and the US has tripled since 2000, reflecting the deepening ties between the two nations. Praising the diaspora for their success, he added, “A plant or a tree may struggle when moved from one place to another, but despite crossing borders, you all have flourished. This is the pride of being Indian and the wealth of America.”
