The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) will jointly host an Executive Capacity Building Programme from November 11 to 16, aimed at empowering senior officers of National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs) across the Global South, theprint.in reported.

This initiative is part of the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) programme and will bring together participants from eight countries: the Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Jordan.

  • Topics include NHRC’s online complaint management system, advanced investigation mechanisms, the influence of business and technology on human rights, and the integration of sustainable development with human rights protections

  • These sessions aim to enrich participants’ understanding and equip them to address emerging challenges more effectively

This six-day, customized program focuses on strengthening human rights efforts by offering an in-depth exploration of practices, policies, and insights based on India’s three decades of experience in human rights advocacy. The NHRC and MEA intend for this program to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and best practices among participants, fostering stronger human rights frameworks across diverse regions.

During the program, senior NHRI officials will participate in technical sessions covering various human rights aspects.
