PM Modi to visit Nigeria, Brazil, and Guyana from November 16-21

In Georgetown, Prime Minister Modi will also participate in the Second CARICOM-India Summit, engaging with leaders of CARICOM member nations to strengthen India’s longstanding ties with the Caribbean region

Nigeria Visit (November 16-17, 2024)

At the invitation of H.E. Mr. Bola Ahmed Tinubu, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Prime Minister Modi will visit Nigeria from November 16-17.

 This marks the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Nigeria in 17 years. During his stay, Prime Minister Modi will engage in discussions to strengthen the strategic partnership between India and Nigeria and explore new avenues for collaboration. He will also address the Indian community in Nigeria. India and Nigeria’s strategic partnership, established in 2007, has seen substantial growth in economic, energy, and defense sectors, with over 200 Indian companies investing more than USD 27 billion in Nigeria’s key sectors. Development cooperation remains a strong pillar of this bilateral relationship.

Brazil Visit (November 18-19, 2024)

On November 18-19, Prime Minister Modi will travel to Rio de Janeiro to attend the G20 Summit hosted by H.E. Mr. Luis Inacio Lula Da Silva, President of the Federative Republic of Brazil. India is a part of the G20 Troika, which includes Brazil and South Africa, actively contributing to ongoing G20 dialogues. During the Summit, the Prime Minister will present India’s perspectives on global issues and build on the outcomes of the G20 New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration and Voice of the Global South Summits, both hosted by India in recent years. He is also expected to meet several global leaders on the sidelines of the Summit.

Guyana Visit (November 19-21, 2024)

At the invitation of H.E. Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, President of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana, Prime Minister Modi will undertake a State Visit to Guyana from November 19-21, marking the first Indian Prime Ministerial visit to the country since 1968. President Ali previously visited India in 2023 as the Chief Guest at the 17th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in Indore, where he was awarded the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman.

In Guyana, Prime Minister Modi will meet President Ali, hold discussions with senior leaders, address the Parliament, and connect with the Indian diaspora.
