UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah meets Indian PM Modi

The long-standing and evolving partnership between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and India took center stage as Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. The meeting marked the commencement of Sheikh Abdullah’s official visit to India to participate in the India-UAE Joint Commission Meeting and the Fourth UAE-India Strategic Dialogue, reported gulftoday.ae.

During the meeting, Sheikh Abdullah conveyed the warm greetings of UAE’s leaders, including President Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, and Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister. In response, Modi extended his best wishes for the UAE’s prosperity and growth.

Sheikh Abdullah underscored the robust and historical ties between the two nations, which span over five decades and are built on trust, mutual respect, and shared interests. Highlighting the unique model of cooperation, he noted, “This partnership has evolved into a comprehensive collaboration that contributes to sustainable development and prosperity for both nations’ peoples.”

Strategic Partnership in Focus

The discussions emphasized the importance of the India-UAE Joint Commission Meeting and the Strategic Dialogue, platforms that have become pivotal in enhancing the bilateral relationship. Both nations reaffirmed their commitment to deepening their strategic partnership, with a particular focus on developmental priorities and emerging opportunities for mutual benefit.

The meeting also covered a wide range of topics, reflecting the depth of the partnership between the two countries. These discussions included trade, education, energy, and other key areas of collaboration. Sheikh Abdullah expressed his optimism about the future, stating, “We now set our sights on even greater aspirations. With renewed commitment and enthusiasm, we aim to reach higher heights, building on the foundation we have established.”

Strengthening Economic and Strategic Collaboration

The UAE delegation, which included key officials such as Reem Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation, and Khaled Mohamed Balama, Governor of the UAE Central Bank, highlighted the multi-faceted nature of the UAE-India partnership. Their presence underscored the significance of strengthening ties across economic, political, and cultural spheres.

Sheikh Abdullah’s dialogue with India’s External Affairs Minister, Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, further emphasized the progress made in vital sectors. Speaking at the Fourth India-UAE Strategic Dialogue, Sheikh Abdullah commended Dr. Jaishankar’s efforts in fostering the partnership over the past decade. “Our comprehensive strategic partnership has evolved significantly over recent years, achieving notable progress in vital sectors such as trade, education, and energy,” he remarked.
