India and US strengthen strategic partnership through high-level dialogue

National Security Advisers Ajit Doval and Jake Sullivan discuss critical technologies, defense, and nuclear cooperation

Indian NSA Shri Ajit Doval met with US NSA Mr. Jake Sullivan in New Delhi on January 6, 2025, accompanied by senior US government officials. The meeting reinforced the ongoing high-level dialogue aimed at enhancing bilateral, regional, and global cooperation across critical sectors.

 

Advancing ties through critical and emerging technologies

The discussions reviewed progress under the India-US Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technologies (iCET), launched by Prime Minister Modi and President Biden in May 2022. The focus areas included Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Computing, Semiconductors, Telecommunications, Defense, and Space.

 

Expanding defense and nuclear cooperation

US NSA Sullivan briefed India on updated US missile export control policies under the Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR) to enhance commercial space cooperation. He also announced efforts to delist Indian nuclear entities, a move aimed at boosting civil nuclear collaboration and strengthening clean energy supply chains.

Deepening security collaboration
The dialogue covered progress in defense, cyber, and maritime security, highlighting the shared vision of India and the US as strategic partners committed to global peace and security.
