Tharman Shanmugaratnam’s Visit to Strengthen Bilateral Ties and Mark 60 Years of Diplomatic Relations
Tharman Shanmugaratnam, President of the Republic of Singapore, will undertake his first State Visit to India from January 14 to 18, 2025. He will be accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising Ministers, Members of Parliament, and officials.

The visit will include a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhawan on January 16, followed by discussions with President Droupadi Murmu, who will host a banquet in President Tharman’s honor.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, among other dignitaries, will also meet with the President of Singapore. Additionally, President Tharman will visit Odisha from January 17 to 18.
Strengthening India-Singapore Relations and Celebrating a Milestone
India and Singapore share a strong foundation of friendship and trust, underpinned by extensive cooperation. The State Visit aims to further bolster bilateral relations, elevated to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in September 2024 during PM Modi’s visit to Singapore. This visit also marks the beginning of celebrations commemorating 60 years of diplomatic ties between the two nations.
