India clinches a historic 78-40 victory over Nepal in the final match
The Indian women’s team created history by winning the first-ever Kho Kho World Cup title with a dominant 78-40 victory over Nepal at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi on Sunday. The team displayed exceptional speed, strategy, and skill, outclassing their opponents to secure the coveted championship, reported timesofindia.indiatimes.com.
India’s remarkable performance sealed their place in history
The hosts started strong in Turn 1, with their attackers eliminating three batches of the Nepal team on seven occasions, earning 14 points. Captain Priyanka Ingle delivered a stellar performance, scoring multiple touch points as India surged to 34 points while denying Nepal any Dream Runs.
In Turn 2, Nepal fought back as Manmati Dhami and B Samjhana eliminated key Indian players Vaishnavi Pawar and Priyanka Ingle. Although B Chaithra ensured India’s first batch of Turn 2 entered a Dream Run, Nepal’s Dipa quickly executed an ALL OUT to narrow the gap. By halftime, Nepal managed 24 points but trailed by 11 points.
India dominates the second half to seal the championship
Turn 3 saw India reassert their dominance, with Nepal’s defenders struggling to find rhythm against India’s relentless attackers. Despite BK Dipa’s valiant efforts for Nepal, India extended their lead further.
In Turn 4, Chaithra orchestrated an impressive Dream Run, propelling India’s score to 78 points. Her batch lasted an incredible 5 minutes and 14 seconds, cementing India’s victory and crowning them as the first-ever Kho Kho World Cup champions.
India’s road to the title included emphatic wins against South Korea, Iran, and Malaysia in the group stages, a commanding quarter-final victory over Bangladesh, and a stunning performance against South Africa in the semi-finals.
