26-year-old Telugu youth killed in a shooting incident on Washington Avenue, leaving family and friends devastated
A 26-year-old Indian student from Hyderabad, identified as Koyyada Ravi Teja, was tragically shot dead by unidentified assailants on Washington Avenue, United States, on Sunday. Teja, who hailed from Green Hills Colony in Rama Krishna Puram, Hyderabad, had been in the US since 2022 pursuing his master’s degree, reported hindustantimes.com.
His father, Koyyada Chandra Mouli, shared the heartbreaking news, stating, “We received information this morning that Teja was fired at by unidentified people while he was returning home.” Preliminary reports indicate that Teja sustained fatal bullet injuries and died on the spot. Details regarding the incident remain unclear.

Teja had recently completed his studies and was actively attending job interviews to begin his career in the United States. His untimely death has left family and friends in deep sorrow. “Nobody should face this situation. He went to the US with high hopes, and now look at how he’s returning,” shared a grieving friend.
This tragedy follows another recent incident on November 30, 2024, when 22-year-old Sai Teja Nukarapu, also from Telangana, was shot and killed at a gas station near Chicago where he worked part-time. Sai Teja, originally from Khammam district, had completed a BBA in India and was pursuing an MBA in the US.
These incidents highlight the growing concerns over the safety of international students in the United States.
