Amul’s presence in the US sparks excitement among Indian consumers
A viral post about spotting Amul milk at a Costco store in Texas has taken social media by storm, drawing enthusiastic reactions from Indian consumers abroad, reported hindustantimes.com.
Indian-origin entrepreneur Ram Prasad was surprised to find Amul Gold milk bottles on the shelves of a Costco store in Austin, Texas. Sharing a picture on X, he wrote, “Amul in Costco. The takeover is near.” The image shows Amul Gold milk jars prominently displayed, with a label reading “Amul Gold, 6% fat.”
His post quickly gained traction, with many users expressing excitement. Some hoped to see more Amul products like cheese and butter in the US market, while others wondered whether Amul had set up local dairies or was shipping products from India. A user even confirmed, “I got it today from Costco.”

Last March, the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which owns Amul, announced its plans to introduce fresh milk in the US market. GCMMF MD Jayen Mehta revealed that Amul had partnered with the Michigan Milk Producers Association (MMPA), a 108-year-old cooperative, to bring four milk variants to American consumers.
“This is the first time we are launching fresh milk outside India. The recipe will be ours. Within one week, Amul Taaza, Amul Gold, Amul Shakti, and Amul Slim n Trim will be available in the US market,” Mehta had stated.
Amul’s fresh milk is now available in key US locations, including New Jersey, Dallas, Chicago, New York, Texas, and Washington, marking a major step in its global expansion.
