Paul Kapur to lead U.S. diplomatic relations with South Asia
Paul Kapur, an expert on South Asian security, has been nominated by President Donald Trump to be the Assistant Secretary of State for South Asian Affairs, reported thehindu.com.
Kapur brings extensive expertise to strengthen U.S. relations with South Asia
The Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs is responsible for U.S. foreign policy and relations with Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. Kapur, of Indian origin, is a professor in the Department of National Security Affairs at the United States Naval Postgraduate School.
Between 2020 and 2021, he served on the State Department’s Policy Planning Staff, focusing on South and Central Asia, Indo-Pacific strategy, and U.S.-India relations.
