A man from Prantij in Gujarat’s Sabarkantha district died while attempting to enter the United States illegally via the infamous ‘donkey route.’ His death was reportedly due to the unavailability of necessary medication, reported gujaratsamachar.com.

Tragic End to a Costly Journey

Dilip Patel, a resident of Moyad village in Prantij taluka, sought the help of agents to travel to the US with his wife and child. Around 1.5 months ago, an agent arranged for their journey from Nicaragua to the US. However, upon reaching Nicaragua, Patel’s health deteriorated, and he was hospitalized.

Unfortunately, due to the unavailability of diabetes medication, Patel slipped into a coma and passed away during treatment.

Following his death, it was discovered that his wife and child were left stranded in Nicaragua. The man had sold his land and paid over ₹1 crore to agents for the journey.

Family Seeks Government Intervention

Following Patel’s death, his wife and child were left stranded in Nicaragua with no immediate support. His family in India has reached out to the Indian government for help in bringing them back.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that the agents responsible for Patel’s journey are now pressuring his mother not to file a police complaint regarding the incident.
