University of Pittsburgh student vanished during a beach walk; family questions drowning theory
Sudiksha Konanki, a 20-year-old Indian-origin student from the University of Pittsburgh, went missing from the eastern coast of the Dominican Republic on March 6. Authorities believe she may have drowned while on vacation with friends, reported gujaratsamachar.com.
Ongoing Investigation and Family’s Concerns
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) stated that an INTERPOL Yellow Notice has been requested to aid in the search. Investigators are also interviewing potential witnesses who may have seen or been with Konanki before she disappeared.
Konanki, a permanent US resident, was last seen walking on the beach near a resort in Punta Cana. Authorities have launched an extensive investigation, including search operations, surveillance footage analysis, and a review of her phone records
An American news channel reported that authorities suspect she drowned in the ocean. However, Konanki’s family has urged officials to explore other possibilities, including abduction.
Her father, Subbarayudu Konanki, has questioned why her body has not washed ashore if she had drowned, raising doubts about the official theory.
