Indian engineer detained in Qatar, family calls for release

Amit Gupta’s family continues to appeal for his immediate release, emphasizing his prolonged detention without formal charges

Amit Gupta, a senior engineer from Gujarat employed by Tech Mahindra, has been detained by Qatari authorities since January 1, 2025, over allegations of data theft, media reports said.

His family asserts his innocence and has sought assistance from the Indian government for his release.

Tech Mahindra has stated that they are providing all possible support to Amit Gupta and are in contact with his family and legal representatives.

The Indian Embassy in Qatar is aware of the situation and has been in touch with local authorities, Amit Gupta’s family, and his legal team to monitor developments closely.

In a similar context, eight former Indian Navy personnel who were previously detained in Qatar have recently been released and have returned to India.

Amit Gupta’s family continues to appeal for his immediate release, emphasizing his prolonged detention without formal charges.
