Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday held a conversation with Elon Musk, the world’s richest person and founder of Tesla and SpaceX, discussing future opportunities for collaboration in technology, innovation, and space. The dialogue comes at a time when Tesla is reportedly preparing to make its long-awaited entry into the Indian market, a move seen as a milestone for India’s push toward electric mobility and advanced satellite communication infrastructure, reported timesofindia.indiatimes.com.

Modi and Musk’s latest exchange highlights growing Indo-US collaboration on technology, innovation, and satellite telecom services amid global market shifts and trade negotiations.

The conversation builds on their earlier meeting in Washington DC this February, where the two leaders discussed space exploration, mobility solutions, and technological advancement. Modi reaffirmed India’s commitment to fostering global partnerships, particularly with the US, in emerging fields.

  • Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal also met with Starlink executives in Delhi earlier this week to explore the company’s investment roadmap in India, underscoring the growing interest in bringing satellite broadband services to the country

  • Domestic telecom companies, including Airtel, have also been in touch with Starlink to potentially roll out satellite communication services, aimed at bridging India’s digital divide.

Modi shared on X, “Spoke to @elonmusk and talked about various issues, including the topics we covered during our meeting in Washington DC earlier this year. India remains committed to advancing our partnerships with the US in these domains.”

With satellite telecom expected to play a transformative role in India’s connectivity landscape, the dialogue between Musk and Modi is seen as a significant step toward future cooperation between Starlink, Tesla, and the Indian market.
