MoS Kirti Vardhan Singh meets visiting Nepalese delegation, explores deeper regional cooperation
In a key diplomatic engagement today, Minister of State for External Affairs and Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Shri Kirti Vardhan Singh met with a high-level delegation from Nepal led by Hon’ble Kamal Bahadur Shah, Chief Minister of Sudurpaschim Province. The meeting took place in New Delhi and emphasized the strong, historical ties between the two neighbouring countries.
Bilateral relations deepen with emphasis on connectivity, energy, tourism, and agriculture.
MoS Singh reiterated the unique and time-tested relationship shared by India and Nepal, underscoring the deep-rooted people-to-people connections.
He acknowledged the recent progress in bilateral relations and stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation with Sudurpaschim Province, especially in key sectors such as connectivity, energy, tourism, and agriculture. The meeting served as a platform to further align regional aspirations with broader India-Nepal strategic goals.
Delegation’s visit reflects growing India-Nepal engagement
Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah is currently leading an official Nepalese delegation on a visit to India from 29 April to 05 May 2025. As part of the itinerary, the delegation will also visit the Indian states of Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh, which maintain deep cultural and economic linkages with Sudurpaschim Province. These visits aim to explore new opportunities for cross-border cooperation and development.
Reinforcing India’s “Neighbourhood First” policy, MoS Singh highlighted Nepal’s status as a priority partner. He stated that this visit is another step forward in maintaining the upward momentum in India-Nepal relations, particularly through enhanced sub-national partnerships and grassroots-level engagements.
