Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann launches several initiatives to ease the lives of NRIs, including a help centre and grievance redressal programmes
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has launched several significant initiatives aimed at providing support and facilitating the Punjabi diaspora worldwide. One of the key initiatives is the inauguration of the state-of-the-art ‘Punjab Help Centre’ at Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI), New Delhi, making Punjab the first state in India to have such a dedicated NRI facilitation booth, reported indiatvnews.com.
During the launch, CM Mann emphasized that many Punjabi NRIs face challenges such as missed flights, lost luggage, or other travel-related issues. “If anyone faces any difficulty in departure, they can come here for assistance,” he said.
The help centre will operate 24/7 to provide assistance to passengers. Additionally, two Innova cars are available to transport passengers to Punjab Bhawan and nearby locations.
The centre offers services like helping with arrival and connecting flights, lost luggage, taxi services, and more. In case of emergencies, the centre will also provide rooms at Punjab Bhawan, subject to availability.
The ‘Punjab Help Centre’ is a step towards better serving the NRI community by providing essential support at IGI Airport.
To assist NRIs further, the Punjab government has introduced the NRI Milnees programme, where meetings are organized in five districts to directly hear the grievances of NRIs, including issues related to land disputes, family matters, marriages, and other concerns.
As of now, 542 complaints have been registered, with 488 applications successfully resolved.
