From ‘poha’ at breakfast to IPL flags and jet sprays, Majestic City Retreat in Bur Dubai wins hearts of Indian tourists
A four-star hotel in Dubai has gone viral for its distinctly Indian vibe, thanks to a viral video by comedian Sorabh Pant.
The hotel, Majestic City Retreat, located in Bur Dubai, is drawing widespread online attention for offering an experience so familiar, it feels like a slice of India abroad, reported livemint.com.
Poha for breakfast, Hindi news on TV, and even a Sonata wall clock—this Dubai hotel is all about desi comfort.

Pant shared the experience through an Instagram reel titled “When your international hotel is basically Indian,” showing everything from a breakfast buffet loaded with poha, Jain poha, dosas, rajma varieties, and parathas, to Hindi news channels and IPL-themed decor in the sports bar
Adding to the Indianess, Pant pointed out a Sonata wall clock from Big Bazaar and the all-important detail many desi travellers look for—a jet spray next to the bidet in the bathroom.
Bur Dubai’s ‘Little India’ charm reflects in hotel’s desi hospitality.
Netizens were quick to react. “Tell us you are in Bur Dubai without telling us,” quipped one user, while another remarked, “Dubai is not international — Dubai is just ameer ristedaar ka ghar.” Some praised the hotel’s hospitality and desi inclusivity, calling the breakfast buffet “gold” and the Hindi news channels “cherry on cake.”
With a significant Indian population, Bur Dubai is often dubbed ‘Little India,’ and this hotel seems to be leaning into that reputation with pride. The Majestic City Retreat even replied to the viral reel, stating, “Thank you for visiting us. We are proud to be Desi in a Videsi environment.”
For many Indian travellers, this unique blend of luxury and familiarity is making Dubai feel like a second home—with a slightly glossier price tag.
