MEA confirms some Indians have also been moved out of Iran via Armenia as hostilities intensify
Amid the growing tensions between Israel and Iran, Indian students residing in Tehran have been evacuated to safer locations, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced on Tuesday. Some Indian nationals have also been assisted in exiting Iran through the border with Armenia as precautionary measures intensify, reported gujaratsamachar.com.
The evacuation effort comes as the Israel-Iran conflict enters its fifth day, with escalating military actions on both sides. Iranian missile strikes targeting Israel have triggered air raid sirens in Haifa, the Golan Heights, and several other areas, prompting concern for the safety of foreign nationals in the region.
“Indian students in Tehran have been moved out of the city for reasons of safety, through arrangements made by the Embassy. Other residents who are self-sufficient in terms of transport have also been advised to move out of the city in view of the developing situation,” the MEA stated.

The Ministry added that “some Indians have been facilitated to leave Iran through the border with Armenia.” The Indian Embassy in Tehran is actively monitoring the situation and remains in close contact with Indian nationals to provide necessary assistance.
An advisory has also been issued by the Embassy urging all Indian nationals and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) in Tehran to evacuate the city using their own resources if possible. The Embassy asked residents to share their current location and contact information and has issued helpline numbers: +989010144557, +989128109115, and +989128109109.
The situation in Tehran appears especially volatile following a statement by Israeli military spokesperson Avichay Adraee, who urged residents of District C — located in the northeastern part of the city — to evacuate immediately. He warned of an impending Israeli military operation targeting Iranian regime military infrastructure in the area.
“Your presence in this area endangers your life. For your safety and security, we urge you to immediately evacuate,” Adraee posted on X.
District C houses several key government institutions, intelligence facilities, and communication hubs, according to international reports. Meanwhile, the Israeli military confirmed that its airstrikes have targeted trucks carrying weapons and surface-to-air missiles advancing from western Iran toward Tehran.
The MEA has assured that additional advisories will be issued as required, and all necessary steps are being taken to safeguard Indian nationals in the region.
