Victim was tied, assaulted and strangled as burglars fled with safe containing cash, jewellery and passports
A 55-year-old Indian businessman was tragically murdered during a violent burglary at his residence in the Al Wuhaida area of Dubai. Five Pakistani nationals are now facing trial in the Dubai Criminal Court on charges of premeditated murder and theft, reported theweek.in.
According to prosecutors, the accused broke into the victim’s home around 4 PM, tied him up, assaulted him with a blunt weapon, and eventually strangled him to death. Their motive was robbery, and they made off with a medium-sized safe containing cash, passports, and jewellery.
The businessman was found dead by his son after intruders tied him up, assaulted him with a blunt object and strangled him, fleeing with a safe full of valuables.
The victim’s son discovered his father’s lifeless body around 9:30 PM and alerted the authorities. A police team, including forensic experts, immediately launched an investigation. CCTV footage showed three suspects entering the house and leaving just 20 minutes later with the safe in hand.
The investigation led to the arrest of three suspects within the UAE, while two others were apprehended in Pakistan in coordination with international law enforcement and later extradited to the UAE
During questioning, all five defendants reportedly confessed to their roles in the crime. One of the accused claimed he acted only as a driver and was unaware of the full plan. However, authorities stated the group drove to a farm in another emirate to divide the stolen contents of the safe.
The defendants now face serious charges and await the next hearing as the Dubai judicial system proceeds with the case. The brutal nature of the crime has shocked many in the expat and business community.
