British woman’s xenophobic rant against Indian staff at Heathrow sparks backlash

  • The controversy has reignited broader conversations about racism, immigration, and labor dynamics in the UK

  • Heathrow Airport has yet to issue an official statement on the incident, but the overwhelming social media backlash reflects a growing public intolerance for racially charged commentary in professional and public discourse

A British woman has come under intense fire online after sharing a xenophobic post targeting Indian and Asian staff at London’s Heathrow Airport. The woman, identified as Lucy White—a public policy specialist and alumna of the University of Cambridge—posted a message on X (formerly Twitter) claiming that most of the airport’s staff were Indian or Asian and did not speak English.

  • Many netizens highlighted the irony in White’s argument, pointing out that the staff members were evidently fluent enough in English to call out racism and defend themselves

  • Others questioned how someone with a background in public policy could post such inflammatory remarks

“Just landed in London Heathrow. Majority of staff are Indian/Asian & are not speaking a word of English. I said to them, ‘Speak English.’ Their reply, ‘You’re being racist.’ They know I’m right, so they have to use the race card. Deport them all. Why are they working at the first point of entry to the UK?! What must tourists think…” she wrote.

Her comments ignited a storm of criticism on social media, with users slamming the post for its racist and xenophobic tone. One user sarcastically responded, “So they told you correctly, in English, that you’re being racist?” while another pointed out the economic reality behind such employment: “Why is it that British people are not applying for those jobs? If they were, then Indians wouldn’t be recruited.”
