Some people will stop at nothing for the sake of dream honeymoon. Take the case of a criminal in Lucknow who came up with the highfaluting idea of an idyllic honeymoon in Switzerland only to impress his newly wedded bride.

Twenty-two Kapil Kashyap of Lucknow, with a record of six previous criminal cases against him, thought robbery was the quickest and easiest way to achieve his objective.

He along with an accomplice, Ram Dheeraj (22), hatched a plan of burglary in the posh, Trans-Gomti area, from an upmarket residential area in Indiranagar.

After doing a thorough recce of the place, the duo decided to strike at this particular house because they had noted that during the day there was only one person in the house.

The ACP of Ghazipur police station Anindya Vikram Singh said both accused were drug addicts, and suspected of involvement in multiple similar thefts

Posing as AC technicians, the two entered the house of Harishchandra Pandey, Under Secretary in the Department of Science and Technology, UP Government.

As anticipated, only the housewife, Shashi Pandey, was alone at home. Catching her by surprise, they smashed her head against a wall and made off with her gold chain and earrings.

Following the robbery, immediate action by the police resulted in both culprits being apprehended.

The ACP of Ghazipur police station Anindya Vikram Singh said both accused were drug addicts, and suspected of involvement in multiple similar thefts.

He added that the stolen earrings and gold chain have been recovered.

The East Zone DCP Shashank Singh said there were six prior criminal cases registered against Kapil at the Ghazipur police station and a history sheet would now be opened against him.
