Oman Air is celebrating three decades of operations in Mumbai, reaffirming its commitment to one of its most dynamic markets. Since launching its inaugural Mumbai flight in 1993, the airline has steadily expanded its India presence to 10 cities, connecting travellers to the Gulf, Europe, and beyond, reported traveltrendstoday.in.

Speaking to T3, Sunil V A, Regional Vice President – ISC, Commercial Sales, said traffic between India and Oman has grown across multiple segments. The airline now serves key Gulf routes and high-demand European destinations. Its recent membership in the oneworld alliance — becoming the 15th member in June — has expanded access to over 900 destinations worldwide.

Globally, Oman Air is on an expansion drive, launching a non-stop Muscat–Amsterdam service in July 2025 and doubling its Muscat–London flights from October. Today, the carrier serves 42 destinations in 22 countries, with hundreds more reachable via alliance partners.

In January 2025, Oman welcomed 88,647 Indian nationals, including 44,652 visitors, making Indians the second-largest inbound market after Emiratis.

The airline is now focusing on strengthening Indian operations, targeting leisure, MICE, and wedding travel segments. Plans to add more Indian routes will depend on increased points of call under the bilateral air services agreement.

Despite safety concerns, geopolitical tensions, and competitive pressures, Oman Air reports strong recovery and promising forward bookings into 2026. “We see strong interest for winter 2025 and even summer 2026, driven by advance planning and early tour package launches,” V A said.

He credited the airline’s award-winning service, diverse market strategy, and Muscat International Airport’s world-class infrastructure for sustained growth in India.

The milestone Mumbai event was attended by Mahboob Issa Juma Al Raisi, Consul General of the Sultanate of Oman in Mumbai; Sid Sharma, President & CEO of InterGlobe Air Transport; and Ahmed Mahrouqi, Vice President of Sales at Oman Air.
