An Indian-origin entrepreneur, Pallavi Chhibber, who had been living in London for the past 10 years, has announced her decision to move back to India. In a social media video, she explained that rising inflation, steep taxes, and declining opportunities had made life in the UK more about survival than growth, reported gujaratsamachar.com.

Family’s £80 meal bill sparks outrage over London’s high costs

Highlighting the soaring cost of living, Chhibber said London has become “obnoxiously expensive.”

She shared an incident where her family dined at Dishoom, a popular Indian restaurant chain in the UK, and ended up paying £80 (over ₹8,500) for dishes including Aloo Chaat, Jackfruit, Fried Okra, and Biryani

Beyond living expenses, she pointed to the heavy taxation system as another key factor. According to her, families like hers were paying almost 50% of their salaries in taxes when indirect taxes were included.

Concerns over children’s future also influenced decision

Chhibber also expressed concern over the long-term prospects for her children in the UK, noting limited opportunities and a decline in job security.

The family’s decision to return to India, she said, was driven by the hope for better financial stability and future growth.
