10 Indian-origin men charged in Singapore for rioting with deadly weapons

 

The accused, along with a Chinese-origin man, allegedly attacked two victims in a violent brawl at Toa Payoh Industrial Park

Ten Indian-origin men were produced before a Singapore court on Monday for allegedly participating in a violent brawl at a coffee shop in Toa Payoh Industrial Park on August 24. The fight left two victims with stab wounds, according to local reports, reported tribuneindia.com.

Each accused faces a charge of rioting while armed with a deadly weapon, which carries a punishment of up to 10 years in jail and caning

The accused were identified as B Vinaash (21), Khailash Misra Goppal (22), Visva Manivannan (23), Gokeda Prushothaman Naidu Gokeda Somu Naidu (25), Vignesh Manivannan (27), Jeremy Pravindran (28), Ghanisheelan Vijaya Kumar (30), Gokeda Sathish Naidu (31), Joshua Navindran Suranthiran (32), and Viknesh Rajandren (33).

A Chinese-origin man, Roy Tan Guo Rong (34), was also charged in the case.

Police said that the group allegedly ganged up against two men shortly before 10 am. Following the clash, a 21-year-old victim sustained stab wounds on his arm, while a 30-year-old victim suffered a stab wound on his back.

The investigation is ongoing, and the accused remain in custody as court proceedings continue.
