The UAE debut of The Global Indian, authored by entrepreneur Xavier Augustin, founder of Y-Axis, was held at the Gulf News headquarters in Dubai. The exclusive gathering brought together editors, journalists, and special invitees for a keynote address, an engaging fireside chat, and the ceremonial launch of the book, marking its first unveiling in the region, reported openpr.com.

In his keynote, Xavier highlighted the purpose behind the book, calling it both a story and a manual for Indians navigating success on a global stage. “The evolution into a global Indian is a lengthy process,” he said, noting how time spent overseas profoundly reshapes identity, work ethic, and perspectives.

Xavier Augustin says the book redefines success for Indians overseas

During the fireside chat, Xavier drew from his experience as founder and CEO of Y-Axis, India’s leading immigration and career consultancy, stressing how habits of learning, growth, and contribution shape successful global narratives. He praised the perseverance, ingenuity, and entrepreneurial drive that define Indians abroad, making them valuable contributors across the world.

The discussion also examined shifting global perceptions of Indians, spotlighting leaders like Sundar Pichai and Satya Nadella as examples of excellence. Xavier emphasised India’s unmatched ability to produce large-scale talent, from neurosurgeons to AI innovators, noting that global Indians play a key role in solving some of the world’s most complex challenges.

The event concluded with the formal launch of The Global Indian, presented by Gulf News Interim CEO Vijay Vaghela, followed by personalised signed copies for all attendees.

With more than 3.5 million Indians residing in the UAE, the book resonates deeply with both first-generation immigrants and younger generations navigating issues of identity, belonging, and aspiration. For Xavier, the launch was not only a milestone but also a call to action: “Embracing the identity of a global Indian is a process. This book is an invitation to contemplate, redefine, and elevate that identity.”
