The Telangana High Court has allowed NEET-PG aspirant Pamula Sushanth Reddy, an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholder, to register for counselling under the Non-Resident Indian (NRI) quota.

The HC bench, however, directed the petitioner to submit the necessary certificates as per the updated NRI eligibility guidelines once they are issued by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Government of India, reported medicaldialogues.in.

The court observed that registration for NEET-PG counselling can proceed on the basis of the OCI card until the revised NRI seat guidelines are officially released

The petitioner’s counsel argued that NEET-PG counselling registration for both All India Quota and State Quota may commence at any time, and the OCI card should suffice for NRI quota registration until the updated guidelines are issued. The petitioner had also applied for an Embassy Certificate of the Sponsorer, which was rejected, citing that the OCI card is sufficient.

Representing KNRUHS, the counsel stated that the University follows MCC guidelines. Taking note of this, the High Court ruled that the petitioner’s application for NRI quota registration may be entertained based on the OCI card, while mandating submission of requisite certificates in line with the forthcoming updated guidelines.

The court has listed the matter for further hearing on October 8, 2025.
