Families of victims plead for bodies to be brought back home; five others remain injured, two critical
Two students from Hyderabad lost their lives and five others sustained injuries in a devastating car accident in Essex, UK, late Monday night. The group of nine students, all pursuing higher education in London, were returning home after participating in Ganesh Nimmajanam when tragedy struck, reported gujaratsamachar.com.
According to reports, two cars collided on the Dual Carriageway A130 at the Rayleigh Spur roundabout. Chaitanya died on the spot, while Rishiteja succumbed to injuries in the hospital. Both families were informed late Monday night, leaving parents inconsolable.

Five others were admitted to Royal London Hospital, with two in critical condition. Sai Goutham Ravulla, 30, is on ventilation, while Nuthan Thatikayala has been left partially paralysed. Yuva Teja Reddy Gurram, Vamshi Golla, and Venkata Sumanth Pentyala are also undergoing treatment.
Police have taken into custody the two drivers, Gopichand Batamekala and Manohar Sabbani, who were behind the wheels of the cars involved.
Back in Hyderabad, grief has engulfed the families. Chaitanya, a BTech graduate from Nadargul, had only moved to London eight months ago to pursue his master’s degree. His parents, Ailayya and Mangamma, were shattered on receiving the news. Rishiteja’s family in Boduppal also received the heartbreaking update.
The bereaved families have appealed to both the Central and Telangana governments to expedite arrangements for repatriating the bodies.
