Muscat – Over 50,000 visitors are expected to attend the Indian Community Festival (ICF), a vibrant celebration of art, culture, and science organized by the Kerala Wing of the Indian Social Club Oman. Formerly known as Keralotsavam, the much-anticipated event will be held at Amerat Park from October 23 to 25, reported muscatdaily.com.

Festival to showcase India-Oman cultural ties under the theme ‘Be Humane, Let Peace Prevail.’

The festival will be inaugurated by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, marking only the second visit by a Kerala chief minister to Oman in nearly 20 years. Distinguished guests expected at the event include Lulu Group Chairman MA Yusuff Ali, Gulfar Engineering and Contracting Co-Founder Dr. P. Mohamed Ali, and senior Omani officials.

Wilson George, member of the Loka Kerala Sabha and Director of the Pravasi Welfare Fund, said this year’s theme – “Be Humane, Let Peace Prevail” – highlights the festival’s message of global harmony, empathy, and peace through art and culture.

“Around 700 artists, including expatriates and locals, will perform traditional and contemporary art forms from various Indian regions, alongside Omani cultural performances,” George said. “The festival reflects the deep-rooted cultural friendship between India and Oman.”

Music, food, and science to take center stage at the Festival Village

A major highlight of ICF 2025 will be a live concert by the popular Kerala band ‘Kanal’, along with food festivals, art exhibitions, and stage performances celebrating India’s diversity and Oman’s artistic traditions. The Festival Village will feature family-friendly attractions, cultural stalls, and interactive zones for all age groups.

Ajayan Poyyara, Convenor of the Kerala Wing, announced that the festival will also host the Muscat Science Fest — a science exhibition and competition encouraging innovation among school students in Oman.

“The exhibition, open to both Indian and international schools, will be inaugurated by scientist and science communicator Ratheesh Krishna,” he said. “Entry will be free, and the theme will center on the environment and artificial intelligence.”

Organizers stated that the Indian Community Festival aims to promote cultural exchange, nurture creativity, and bring together Indian and Omani communities in a shared spirit of friendship, learning, and celebration.
