Mahadev Betting Case: ED attaches rs 21.45 crore assets across India and Dubai

  • Investigators allege that the syndicate operated on a franchise-style “panel” system, with local operators running branches while the core control rested with Chandrakar and Uppal from Dubai

  • A significant share of the profits—estimated at 70–75 per cent—was allegedly siphoned off by the masterminds, with funds laundered through thousands of mule bank accounts opened using the credentials of unsuspecting individuals

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has intensified its crackdown on the Mahadev Online Book (MOB) illegal betting network, attaching assets worth more than Rs 21.45 crore across India and Dubai. The latest action, taken on January 10 under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), reflects the expanding scope of one of India’s largest probes into an online betting syndicate with international links.

According to the ED, the provisional attachment order covers movable assets valued at around Rs 98.55 lakh and 27 immovable properties worth approximately Rs 20.46 crore. These include luxury apartments, commercial shops, residential houses, and agricultural land located in multiple Indian states as well as Dubai. Officials said the assets represent proceeds of crime generated through illegal online betting platforms.

  • With this round of attachments, the total value of assets seized, frozen, or attached in the Mahadev betting case has reached about Rs 2,621 crore

  • The central agency has conducted searches at over 175 premises so far, arrested 13 individuals, and named 74 entities as accused in five prosecution complaints filed during the ongoing investigation

Among the properties attached are those linked to key figures allegedly associated with the syndicate. These include assets belonging to Ravi Uppal, identified as one of the principal promoters of the Mahadev network and currently absconding. His luxury property in Dubai’s Atria Ra complex, valued at roughly Rs 6.75 crore, has been brought under attachment. Properties connected to Rajat Kumar Singh, described as a close associate of alleged mastermind Saurabh Chandrakar, have also been targeted in Bhilai and Dubai.

The ED has further attached properties in Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Delhi, and Jaipur linked to other accused who allegedly operated betting panels, managed promotions, or handled financial flows. Vehicles and commercial properties believed to have been purchased using illicit proceeds have also been included in the action.

The investigation was initiated based on multiple FIRs registered by police in Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, and West Bengal. The agency has identified several betting websites, including Tiger Exchange, Gold365, and Laser247, as part of the wider network.
