According to MakeMyTrip’s leadership, the aim is not to change how women plan travel, but to support their careful approach by presenting relevant information upfront
MakeMyTrip has introduced new women-focused safety and assurance features across its stay and intercity bus bookings, using artificial intelligence, user reviews and partner data to make travel planning more reassuring for women.
Insights from the platform show that women travellers tend to plan more carefully. They spend more time reading reviews, exploring maps and street views, and checking guest-uploaded photos before confirming a booking.

Booking trends also reveal that women book stays much earlier—around 50 per cent more than men when planning at least 15 days in advance—and show a stronger preference for premium and branded properties

This preference increases in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, where branded accommodation is often seen as a sign of reliability
On bus routes, solo women travellers commonly prefer seating arrangements that place them next to other women, especially on long or overnight journeys. MakeMyTrip has responded by making such safety cues more visible and easier to understand.
When the platform identifies that a woman may be planning a stay, reviews written by women are highlighted. AI-generated summaries bring forward practical details such as staff behaviour, neighbourhood safety and ease of access. Information on women-relevant amenities—such as CCTV, door chains, door viewers and full-length mirrors—is also displayed more clearly. Travellers can additionally use Street View to assess the surroundings before booking.
Similar changes apply to intercity bus bookings. Reviews from women-only journeys are filtered and tagged for key concerns like safety, cleanliness and punctuality. If a woman books one side of a double berth, the adjacent berth is automatically reserved for another woman, reducing mixed seating.
These features are powered by insights from millions of reviews and structured data from nearly 97,000 accommodation partners and over 3,500 bus operators, helping women make informed choices with greater confidence.
