Abu Dhabi welcomes first passengers as new international route marks a milestone for Navi Mumbai International Airport and expands travel options
Air India Express has launched its landmark direct service between Navi Mumbai International Airport and Abu Dhabi, with the inaugural flight receiving a warm welcome on arrival in the UAE capital. The new route marks the first scheduled international service from Navi Mumbai and is expected to improve connectivity between western India and the United Arab Emirates.
The inaugural passengers were welcomed at Abu Dhabi International Airport, highlighting the growing aviation partnership between India and the UAE. The service is expected to benefit business travellers, tourists and the large Indian expatriate community living in the Emirates by offering an additional gateway to the Gulf region.

Air India Express said the Navi Mumbai–Abu Dhabi route forms part of its wider network expansion in the UAE. The airline has also introduced new direct services connecting Abu Dhabi with Indore and Lucknow, while flights from Guwahati are scheduled to commence shortly. With these additions, the carrier now connects 14 Indian cities to Abu Dhabi through 75 weekly non-stop flights, offering greater flexibility for travellers and supporting trade, tourism and family travel between the two countries.
The expansion reflects the continued growth in demand for air travel between India and the UAE, one of the country’s busiest international aviation corridors. Industry observers expect the additional services to strengthen economic and people-to-people ties while providing passengers with more convenient travel options as traffic continues to grow.
