Quarantine is mandatory irrespective of vaccination status
Indian state of Kerala’s spike in Covid-19 cases is a cause for concern among authorities in the neighbouring Karnataka, which decided seven-day mandatory institutional quarantine for those coming from Kerala irrespective of the vaccination status.
Even as hospital admissions continue to drop in Karnataka the case numbers, Covid deaths, and positivity rate have increased in the week ending August 28 in Bengaluru. The states’s The Technical Advisory Committee, however, called people to be cautious and not to worry over small bump in numbers.
Worried over Kerala’s Covid situation, and to contain the virus’ spread in the Karnataka, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai chaired a review meeting that decided one-week quarantine protocol.

“One week institutional quarantine is mandatory for people coming from Kerala and testing on the seventh day is compulsory, irrespective of the persons vaccinated and holding a negative report after RT-PCR test,” a statement issued by the Karnataka CM’s Office (CMO) said.
The rules are applicable on everyone, including students. In a media briefing, Revenue Minister R Ashok said, “All visitors, including students, will be subjected to a Covid-19 test after completing the one-week institutional quarantine.”
Another review meting decision is likely soon to update people about new protocols and safety measures.
