The proposed event is expected to bring together members of the Indian diaspora, government representatives and business leaders for discussions on India’s global engagement.
Kolkata will host Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) from January 7 to 9, 2027, with around 10,000 to 12,000 delegates from 75 countries expected to attend, according to officials sources.
The three-day convention is expected to bring together non-resident Indians (NRIs), persons of Indian origin, industrialists, academics, economists and other professionals to discuss India’s engagement with its overseas community.
The West Bengal government is expected to use the gathering to highlight the state’s investment opportunities, industrial infrastructure and technology sector, while encouraging business partnerships and potential joint ventures with overseas Indians.
The event is also expected to provide a platform for discussions on diaspora participation in India’s economic development. However, details of the proposed investment meetings, venues, expenditure and logistical arrangements have not yet been specified in the available report.
