Free healthcare services and an evening musical programme were organised at the Union minister’s residence in Sao Pedro, Old Goa

A series of medical camps and a cultural programme were organised in Goa on October 4 to mark the birth anniversary of Union Minister of State for Power and New & Renewable Energy Shripad Yesso Naik.
The programmes, organised by Matrubhoomi Seva Pratishthan, Goa, were held at Naik’s residence in Sao Pedro, Old Goa. Naik, who represents North Goa in the Lok Sabha, turned 74 on October 4.
Goa Governor Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju attended the event as the chief guest, while Chief Minister Pramod Sawant presided over the inauguration of the medical initiatives. Public Works Minister Digambar Kamat, Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Shet Tanavade and Goa BJP president Damu Naik were among the other guests named for the programme.

The health initiatives included free eye examinations, cataract surgery and spectacle distribution in association with Prasad Netralaya Super Speciality Eye Hospital, Udupi

Free dental consultations, an Ayurvedic medical camp and medicine distribution were also organised
The programme further included free cancer screening and medicine distribution in association with Cancer-Free Goa, the Indian Rotary Cancer Care initiative and Rejoice Health Foundation. A diabetic retinopathy screening camp, featuring artificial intelligence-based eye-care technology, was also part of the day’s activities.
The celebrations concluded with an evening musical programme titled “Swar Aale Duruni”, featuring singers and musicians led by Dhanraj Madkaikar. The programme combined music, devotional elements, theatre and cinema.
Naik has previously marked his birthdays through public-service initiatives, including medical camps. A Goa government release from 2017 records that a similar health camp was organised at his Sao Pedro residence on his birthday.
