1.25 crore vaccines in a day, India achieves major milestone

According to government sources, India administered more than 65-crore doses administered so far

India achieved a major milestone by administering over 1.25 crore vaccine doses on August 31. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya called it a new vaccination milestone.

The minister praised the health workers and said in a tweet, “I applaud the hard work of Covid warriors … is a new vaccination milestone.”

“Congratulations, as India administers another 1 crore #COVID19 vaccinations today Highest one-day record of 1.09 crore vaccine doses achieved till 6 pm – and still counting! Under PM @NarendraModi ji, India is fighting strongly against corona,” he said in another tweet.

 

It took India 85 days to touch the figure of 10 crore, 45 days to cross the 20-crore mark and in 74 days 30 crore were vaccinated. “It took 24 days to reach India 40 crore, and 44 days to cross 50 crore vaccinations as of August 6. By August 25, 60-crore people got vaccines across India

Meanwhile, a WHO (World Health Organisation) statement quoting former co-chairs of the Independent Panel on Pandemic Preparedness and Response (IPPPR), Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, former president of Liberia, and Helen Clark, former prime minister of New Zealand, said, the slow pace of redistribution of Covid-19 vaccines from high income to low-income countries is a matter of grave concern.
