Indian Social Club Salalah organizes ‘Indo-Oman Grand Cultural Nite’

Indian Social Club (ISC) Salalah in association with the Embassy of India, Muscat organised a glittering ‘Indo-Oman Grand Cultural Nite’ on Friday (October 29, 2021).

The event was an extension to Republic of India’s 75th Independence Day celebrated on 15th August, 2021 by exhibiting Indian values, culture and traditions as ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’, a ‘Commemoration of Nectar of Freedom’.

The events Chief Guest was Eng Ali Salim Omar Fadhil, Vice-President of Dhofar Municipality and Guest of Honour Irshad Ahmad, Counsellor (Labour & Community Welfare), Embassy of India, Muscat.

Irshad Ahmad gave a brief note on deep rooted Indo-Oman relations during the event.

Indian and Omani performers kept the audience spell bound almost for three hours. It was treat to the eyes at a time when people were detachment from the community almost for 2 years due to Covid-19 pandemic. They were looking for some refreshing moment like this.

Dr Sandeep Ojha, General Secretary welcomed the guests and the audience, while Rakesh Kumar Jha, President ISC Salalah mentioned about the initiatives taken by the Club to help the community during the pandemic.

“Occasions like Indo-Oman Cultural Nite provide us opportunity to exhibit the values, culture and traditions of two countries and further strengthen the relationship between the countries,” he said.

Vote of thanks was proposed by Ramesh Kumar, Vice-President, ISC Salalah. On behalf of the Club, he expressed gratitude to the country, Ministry of Social Development, Ministry of Health, Royal Oman Police, Embassy of India, Muscat, and Indian Social Club Muscat for their continued support.

Present on the occasion were people from Omani community, a large number of the Indian community members, the Management Committee and members of the ISC Salalah.

The other dignitaries present were Sunny Joseph, Embassy of India, Muscat; Ahmed Al Shari, Dy Director, Ministry of Social Development; Ali Al Marhoon Al Hammer from MoSD, Ahmad Kashoob, Ex-Director OQ Salalah, Iman Jaboob, Project Manager Finance, Port of Salalah, Ahmed Nasser Obaid Al Sakiti, Soufi Badiya, Adel Saeed Al Yafei, owner of Al Sultanah Today, Jamila Jaboob, Rawya Al Shanfari, Saufi Badia, Sanjiv Singh, V-P of Indian School Salalah, Management Committee members, Wing Executive members and invitees.
