HE Huda Ibrahim Alkhamis, Founder of ADMAF and Founder and Artistic Director of Abu Dhabi Festival, said “In addition to creating rich cultural experiences, Abu Dhabi Festival is a platform for young talents in the UAE to learn from legends”.
As part of the 18th edition of the Abu Dhabi Festival, held under the theme ‘The Future Starts Now’, and in cooperation with the Benedetti Foundation, the Young Musicians workshop and masterclass took place between 15-17 November with legendary violinist Nicola Benedetti, MBE.
HE Huda Ibrahim Alkhamis, Founder of ADMAF and Founder and Artistic Director of Abu Dhabi Festival, said “In addition to creating rich cultural experiences, Abu Dhabi Festival is a platform for young talents in the UAE to learn from legends. This year, the Festival’s Young Musicians programme provides youth in the UAE with an unprecedented opportunity to engage in a masterclass with virtuoso violinist Nicola Benedetti”.
“Cultivating future generations through direct contact with the world’s greatest artists and performers is an essential part of Abu Dhabi festival’s mission. As we continue to invest in the youth of our nation, we are proud to bring the great Nicola Benedetti’s inspiration and guidance to young musicians across the UAE” Her Excellency added.
Nicola Benedetti celebrated this cooperation saying: “I am very pleased to cooperate once again with Abu Dhabi Festival on this project, which focused on nurturing the talents and ambitions of young musicians. By honing their skills and competencies, the project sought to establish a generation of new musicians capable of contributing greatly to preservation of arts, music and human civilization.”
The three-day workshop encompassed a series of musical courses, both in theory and practice, designed by the Benedetti Foundation for intermediate and advanced young musicians.
Receiving extensive participation from 5 to 18 year-old musicians, the workshop included a Q&A session with Benedetti, followed by a 15-20 minute solo violin performance by one of the participants. After the solo, Benedetti coached the participant offering comments and instruction that all the participants could learn from.
Held under the theme ‘The Future Starts Now’, the programme for the 18th edition of Abu Dhabi Festival combines a unique hybrid programme of virtual and in-person performances, exhibitions and events leveraging the latest digital technology, with the participation of over 500 artists from more than 50 countries.
The Festival is providing audiences with 16 exciting world premieres, 12 festival productions, eight global co-productions and four exclusive commissions, with 1 global music tour.
